Planetary Hour


The Arizona Society of Astrologers

The ASA is a totally volunteer organization.  Thus, its leadership is invaluable.  The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Programs Director are elected annually by written ballot of the entire membership. The ASA year begins in September and ends in August.

The ASA Board of Directors is comprised of the elected officers and appointed directors.

Appointed directors include Membership, Hospitality, Member at Large, Newsletter, Publicity and others as the President and Board find necessary to the success of the Arizona Society of Astrologers.

Following are position descriptions for ASA's Board of Directors:

President
* Preside at ASA meetings and Board meetings.
* Propose appointed officers for approval by the Board.
* Maintain an awareness of members' needs and concerns.
* Attend ASA meetings.
Vice-President
* Preside at meetings when president is absent.
* Perform administrative duties as request by president.
* Attend ASA meetings.
Secretary
* Record and keep minutes of Board meetings.
* Email minutes to Board members.
* Notify Board members of time, date, and place of meetings.
* Attend ASA meetings.
Treasurer
* Collect all money that comes in, deposit it in the ASA account, and keep an accurate record of all financial transactions.
* Coordinate membership receipts with Membership Director.
* Write checks as needed, i.e. rent, speakers, supplies, etc.
* Pick up ASA's mail from the P.O. box.
* Distribute a monthly treasury report to the Board.
* Each year, make an annual report to the membership.
* File annual reports with the Arizona Corporation Commission.
* Attend ASA meetings.
Programs Chair
* Select speakers and propose them to the Board.
* Contact speakers; negotiate fees.
* Follow up with a thank-you note or email.
* Work with Member at Large to ensure that speaker has equipment and supplies he/she needs for the presentation.
* Attend ASA meetings.


The Arizona Society of Astrologers (ASA), the oldest and one of the largest statewide astrology organizations, was founded on September 7, 1973 to promote astrology through teaching, lecturing, research and practice in a professional and ethical manner.  The ASA has proudly hosted well-known and inspiring teachers and lecturers from around the world at regular monthly meetings.

ASA was incorporated on September 20, 1974 at 4:30 PM in Scottsdale, AZ.
